Welcome to the Bowen Technique website!

As nothing happens by chance, you must have arrived here for a good reason. Let’s see if we have what you’re looking for. If you feel that your body is out of balance, if you experience various, strange symptoms that can not be properly diagnosed, if you tried all kind of treatments with no results, you are in the right place!

What is it?

This therapy is a new concept in bodywork, and it is neither derived from nor similar to any other physical modality

Misalignments commonly right themselves

yet there is no manipulation of joints or bones as in chiropractic work.

Meridians show immediate improvements

yet the work is not based on meridians and does not resemble acupuncture or acupressure

Internal psychological shifts are common

yet it is not necessary to evoke emotional response as in mind-body therapies

A Bowen move activates the following mechanisms for self healing:

Stretch reflex

In the case of a pain – muscle – spasm circuit, we can break this vicious circle by changing the stimuli received by the nervous system.

Joint Proprioceptors

The stimuli will be received by the nervous system, inviting the normalization of the functioning of the joint, without the need for forceful manipulation.

Fascia

As a direct result of a Bowen session, loosening of adhesions, softening of affected tissue, and improvement in posture and mobility are often observed, without forced mobilization or stretching.

Trigger points

By clearing these trigger points, referred pain will be relieved and joint mobility and muscle co-ordination will be improved.

Acupuncture points and Meridians

Most movements overlap acupuncture points, and some even cross two or three meridians at once.

Autonomic nervous system (ANS) rebalancing

After just a few Bowen sessions, the healing process is frequently reactivated when convalescence following trauma, illness, or surgery stagnates or plateaus.
